BUFFALO SPREE MAGAZINE NAMES HOLLIS FRAMPTON AT CEPA “MUST-SEE ART EXHIBITION OF THE YEAR”
May 20, 2016—Buffalo Spree, “the magazine of Western New York,” in its annual reader and staff-selected “Best of Western New York” awards, has named the 2015 “Hollis Frampton” exhibition at CEPA Gallery in Buffalo, NY the “Must-See Art Exhibition of the Year” in its small gallery category.
Dean Brownrout Modern/Contemporary co-produced the exhibition, and is the representative of the photographic print work of the estate of Hollis Frampton.
In honoring the first comprehensive survey of Frampton’s photographs in nearly 30 years, Buffalo Spree magazine called the exhibition an “art-world event” and a “landmark show,” adding that the presented work “paralleled the development of photographic art in the mid-twentieth century.”
“We truly appreciate Spree’s selection of ‘Hollis Frampton’ as the best show of the year in a small venue in Buffalo,” said Dean Brownrout. “Both the positive art-community response and the public’s growing interest in Frampton affirms our belief that the time was right to reintroduce this artwork. It’s a pleasure partnering with the estate of Hollis Frampton to bring these pieces out and allow the world to see them with fresh eyes.”
